SUMMARY OF SECURITY FEATURES
WATERMARKS: Watermarks ensure authenticity of the document. Watermarks can only be produced during the manufacturing of the paper and are visible in both reflected and transmitted light. CHEMICAL STAINS: Chemical stains are designed to provide evidence of tampering. A common example of such tampering is washing ink off the original document with bleach and replacing it with fraudulent data. Bleach, along with other solvents, will create a chemical reaction when applied to the paper resulting in a stain. BASKET WEAVE PATTERN: Basket weaves are applied to the paper in the manufacturing process with a low pigment ink which is difficult to photocopy or scan and fades when certain solutions (like bleach) are applied. CHEMICAL VOID: The chemical void has a hidden void message in six languages which becomes visible if tampering is attempted with certain solutions. VISIBLE FIBERS: The visible fibers can be seen in ordinary light on both sides of the paper which makes the document more difficult to counterfeit. INVISIBLE FIBERS: The invisible fibers can only be seen with an ultraviolet light which makes the document more difficult to counterfeit. TONERFUSE : TonerFuse is a coating applied to the paper which locks the toner from the laser printer to the paper so the toner cannot be removed by tape pulling, scraping, or creasing. MICROPRINT SIGNATURE LINE: The signature line of the check consists of very small type of the words “Authorized Signature” which can be seen when magnified. This feature blurs when photocopied. WARNING BORDERS: Warning borders highlight the security features for the user. PADLOCK ICON AND BACKER: The Padlock icon alerts handlers that there are safety features in the check which are enumerated on the backer.
BLEED THRU NUMBERING: Arabic or MICR Numbering that “bleeds
through” to the back side of the check as an added security feature. |
